When to call
Electrical emergencies we handle
Some electrical faults are an inconvenience — others are a genuine fire or safety risk. If you’re seeing any of the following in your Whakatāne home or business, switch off at the board if it’s safe to do so and call us straight away on 07 807 9132:
- Burning smell or smoke from a power point, switchboard or appliance
- Sparking, arcing or scorch marks around outlets or switches
- Total power loss when your neighbours still have power (a fault on your side of the meter)
- A switchboard that keeps tripping and won’t reset
- Buzzing, crackling or hot switches, outlets or light fittings
- Damage from storms, flooding or fallen trees affecting your wiring or mains
- Power lines or cables down on your property
What to do while you wait
If there’s a burning smell or sparking and it’s safe to reach, turn off the main switch on your switchboard. Keep clear of any fallen lines and water near electrical fittings. Then call us — we’ll talk you through making it safe and get an electrician to you as quickly as we can.
